Armstrong and Getty are coming to April’s River Valley Tea Party Patriots meeting. You may love them or you may hate them, but you cannot deny they provide an entertaining drive to work on your weekday commute. I have a great deal of trouble pigeon holing these radio talk show hosts because just when you think you have them cornered ideologically they will surprise you with the irreverent view of our politicians and societal mores. Politicians, news events, entertainers, and our societal foibles are the general targets, and a target rich environment I might add, for these two talk show hosts. They are a great success due to their ability to feed off each other so you have two for the price of one, a sort of “I can top that” witticism banter back and forth. To attempt to put a general feeling of where these two entertaining could be categorized, I think it would be safe to say they are against socialism, standard fare Republicans and Democrats and they are four square behind free speech. They are constantly in search of hypocrisy coming from any political quarter. Hypocrisy and ridiculous news events are their bread and butter fueling the show’s humor. I am not normally a ‘bumper sticker‘ user, although I must confess I read them, but I have to admit the collection of bumper stickers for sale on the Armstrong and Getty website are interesting and have a relevancy in today’s societal environment. I site a couple here to prove my point: “Work...or Starve, No Socialism,” “First they make you dependent on them...Then they own you,” “A Nation of Veal Calves! No Socialism.” I think it is pretty clear what animates these two talk show hosts. If you are a firm believer that political correctness should be the law of the land, you may want to avoid Armstrong and Getty. A strong libertarian vein runs through their on air performance and provides an ample material to skewer both sides of the political isle. In addition to the Armstrong and Getty appearance we will have our current District Four Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan provide us with a short presentation along with questions our attendees might have. Again our April the 18th monthly River Valley Tea Party Patriot meeting will feature this entertaining if not raucous Armstrong and Getty presentation. You will not want to miss this opportunity to see and hear these men live. As normal our doors open at 6:30 PM and the meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Come early to Cosumnes River Elementary School and enjoy meeting your neighbors and friends for an entertaining and informative evening. Posted 3/12/12
March 21, 2012 - General Meeting Our guest speaker this month is Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, 59th Assembly District. Assembly member Donnelly is a Fire-Brand speaker serving his first term. That means he brings a fresh perspective, and carry's the Tea Party Message to the Assembly. He is pursuing a second term, in the newly created 33rd Assembly District. While he does not represent our area, he has recently co-authored a bill Assembly Bill 1506 to completely repeal Assembly Bill x1 29, which imposed State Fire Protection fees on rural residents last year. AB 1506 will eliminate the $150 fee entirely. Assemblymember Donnely is focused on legal immigration, fiscally responsible government, and support of the free markets. |
